Day 01: Arrive To Kolkata

On arrival in Kolkatta you will be greeted by our representative outside the baggage hall area at the airport and proceed to hotel. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight at Kolkata

Day 02: Kolkata

Kolkatta formerly Calcutta is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located in eastern India on the east bank of the River Hooghly. When referred to as Calcutta, it usually includes the suburbs, and thus its population exceeds 15 million, making it India's third-largest metropolitan area and urban agglomeration. This also makes it the world's 8th largest metropolitan area as defined by the United Nations. Kolkata served as the capital of India during the British Raj until 1911, once the centre of modern education, industry, science, culture and politics in India.

Calcutta Tourist Attractions . Victoria Memorial - Timing - 10.00 A.M. To 4.30 P.M. (March to October it close at 3.30 P.M. Day 03: Kolkata Shanti Niketan – Boadhgaya

The most popular place to visit around Kolkata is Shanti Niketan. Situated 136 km northwest of the city, this is the place where Rabindranath Tagore lived and established a university. Overnight train journey to Bodggaya.

Day 04: Bodhgaya

This village is situated near the river Niranjana (Phalgu) 12 km. from Gaya and 112 km from Patna. It is one of the holiest Buddhist centers. This is the place where Gautama meditated and attained enlightenment . The tree that had sheltered him came to be known as the Bodhi tree.

Bodhgaya, an important place of pilgrimage for Mahabodhi Temple, Animesh Lochan Chaitya, Bodhi Tree, Chankramana, Ratnagarh, Sun Temple, Pretshila Hill, Vishnupad Temple, Barabar Caves. 80 feet Statue of the Buddha, Lotus Tank, Buddha Kund, International Buddhist House, Sujata village (2 km), Dungeshwari Hill (Prag bodhi) (22 km by road). Bodhgaya has a number of monasteries, some of them established by Buddhists of Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, etc. Overnight stay at hotel in Bodhgaya.

Day 05: Bodhgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda - Patna

Morning post breakfast proceed to Rajgir. Rajgir is a place of great significance for Buddhists and Jains. Lord Buddha spent 12 years at Rajgir and the first Buddhist council was held here. Sightseeing at Rajgir covers the Shanti Stupa, Hot Springs, Gridhakuta Hill, Bimbisara Jail and other Jain and Buddha monuments. From Rajgir you will be driven to Nalanda (20 km).

Nalanda was a great center of learning in ancient times. Nalanda was one of the greatest monastic universities of the ancient world. At Nalanda you will visit the ruins of the Nalanda University, temples and stupas. Sightseeing in Nalanda University Ruins Archaeological Complex, Nalanda Archaeological Museum, Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Hieun Tsang Memorial Hall, Silao, Surajpur Baragaon. From Nalanda you will head for Patna (90km). Overnight stay at hotel in Patna.

Day 06: Patna (Kumhrar) – Vaishali

Patna once called Patliputra, the capital of Bihar, is among the world's oldest capital city with unbroken history of many centuries as Imperial metropolis of the Mauryas and Guptas imperial dynasties.

Sightseeing include GolGhar -is a large dome-like structure from where one can have a fine view of the Ganga and the surroundings of the city, Patna Museum: The Patna Museum houses a First World War cannon, metal and stone sculptures of the Mauryan and Gupta periods, Buddhist sculptures and quaint terracotta figures. A 16 m long fossilized tree is one of its special features.

Kumhrar, located in the city of Patna, is the site that consists of the archaeological excavations of Patliputra and marks the ancient capital of Ajatshatru, Chandragupta and Ashok. Excavations here have releaved relics of four continuous periods from 600 BC to 600 AD. An important find is the 80-pillared huge hall of the Mauryan dynasty dating back to 400 - 300 BC.

Proceed to Vaishali -place where Buddha announced the approaching of his Mahaparinirvana. Also visit Ashokan Pillar, Bawan Pokhar Temple, Buddha Stupa-I, Buddha Stupa-II, Abhiskek Pushkarn (Coronation tank, Kundalpur), Raja Vishal ka Garh, Shanti Stupa, World Peace Pagoda. Day 07: Patna- Varanasi (Sarnath)

After Breakfast Proceed to Varanasi. Afternoon “Bharat Mata Tample “, a fairly new temple built in 1936 and located at Kashi Vidyapeeth Campus, is a shrine dedicated to Mother India. It enshrines a marble structure of Mother India, a fine three dimensional structure of undivided India. The marble structure, rather a map of India, is constructed at the right proportions of oceans, lands and hills. This is a unique temple and a symbol of patriotism. The Bharat Mata temple at Varanasi is the only temple dedicated to Mother India.

Day 08: Varanasi

Early morning drive to Daswamedh Ghat and take a boat ride on the sacred river Ganges to see the cremation Ghats (HARISCHANDRA TO MANIKARNIKA GHAT). Visit to Banaras Hindu University . The Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 by special efforts of Nationalist Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Today it has grown into one of the biggest universities of India and Asia.

Then proceed to Sarnath. The mordern name Sarnath seems to be a contraction of Saranganath (Lord of deer) still borne by the Lord Shiva enshrined in a temple nearby.

Buddhists worldwide look upon India as the land of the Buddha and a visit to this country means a pilgrimage to those places sacred to the memory of the Enlightened One. After the Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya he came to sarnath. Here in the Deer Park, he delivered his first sermon, or in religious language, set in motion the wheel of Law (Maha Dharmachakra Pravartan). Also visit Chaukhandi Stupa , Dhamek Stupa ( the 34-metre-high Dhamek Stupa towers over the gardened heart of Sarnath and marks the spot where the Buddha is said to have preached the famous first sermon) Mulagandha Kuti Vihar,Sarnath Museum. Day 09: Varanasi – Kushinagar

Proceed to Kushinagar. At the time of the Buddha, Kushinagar was the capital of the Mallas, and the scene of the Buddha's death . At this location, near the Hiranyavati River, Gautama Buddha attained Parinirvana (or 'Final Nirvana') after falling ill from eating a meal of a species of mushroom which translates as "pig's delight".

Main attraction at Kushinagar - Wattthai Temple typical Thai Buddhist architectural style , Nirvana Stupa, Mahaparinirvana Temple, Mathakuar Shrine, Ramabhar Stupa, Chinese Temple, Japanese Temple, Govt. Buddha Museum . Transfer to kapilvastu. Overnight stay at hotel in Kushinagar.

Day 10: Kushinagar – Kapilvastu – Lumbini

Proceed to Kapilvastu. Kapilavastu is the name of a region of ancient Shakya kingdom that is considered a holy pilgrimage place for Buddhists, located close to Lumbini.

Piprahwa 22 km from Siddharthnagar is identified with ancient Kapilvastu where Lord Buddha spent the early years of his life.

Main attractions are Stupa Complex, Palace Site, it is said to be the place where Lord Buddha spent the first 29 years of his life. Transfer to Lumbini (90 km).

Birthplace of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, who was born in the 7th or 6th century BC. Lumbini lies in the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal. The area around Lumbini is entirely Hindu, but many Buddhist temples and shrines from various nations are scattered around the holy site itself. Day 11: Lumbini – Sravasti – Lucknow

Proceed to Sravasti. Sravasti, capital of the ancient Kosala kingdom is sacred to Buddhists because it is here that Lord Buddha performed the greatest of his miracles to confound the Tirthika heretics. The main place of interest are Maheth, Sobhanath Temple believed to be the birthplace of Jain Tirthankar Sambhavnath. It is revered by Jain pilgrims. Saheth became an important place of pilgrimage, adorned with numerous shrines, stupas and monasteries. The stupas belong mostly to the Kushana period, while the temples are in the Gupta style. The remains date from the Mauryan era (3rd century BC ) to the 12th century AD. One of the earliest stupas probably dated to the 3rd century BC. Transfer to Lucknow. Overnight stay at hotel in Lucknow.

Day 12: Lucknow – Sankisa

Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, extends along the banks of the River Gomti. The creator of Lucknow as it is today was Nawab Asaf ud Daula. Sightseeing Hussainabad Imambara, Shah Najaf Imambara( Entrance Fee Combined Fee For Indian Rs. 25:00, For Foreigner Rs. 300:00 for both).

Proceed to Sankisa. Mythical legends relate the place to the Buddha. It is believed that after delivering sermons to His mother and other devas in the Heaven, the Buddha returned to earth here at this place. Buddhist Attractions in Sankisa -The Buddha Temple , The Temple of Maya Devi , The Ruins of Ashokan Elephant Pillar. Overnight stay at hotel in Sankisa.

Day 13: Sankisa - Agra

Morning after breakfast proceeds to Agra. Agra is the one of the prominent destinations of the World Tourism map with three heritage monuments -The Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri & Red Fort . All three are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Visit Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri is 40 km from Agra and built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other Palaces. Continue drive to Agra and upon arrival, rest of the day is free and stay overnight at Agra hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Agra.

Day 14: Agra – Delhi

Taj Mahal was built by a grief stricken Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal. A world-renowned wonder, Taj Mahal sits pretty on the northern side of this green paradise. This enchanting mausoleum, on the bank of river Yamuna. The great Mughal Emperor Akbar commissioned the construction of the Agra Fort in 1565 A.D. although additions were made till the time of his grandson Shah Jahan.

Other monuments are Chini Ka Rauza , RADHASWAMI SAMADHI, DAYALBAGH, RAM BAGH, MEHTAB BAGH , and ITMAD UD DAULAH: (Baby Taj).

Proceed to Delhi. In evening visit India Gate. president house.Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.

Day 15: Delhi

This day guests will be provided a tour of the national capital city of Delhi. In the morning the tour will begin with a visit to the charming sightseeing attractions of Delhi including Red Fort, Jama Masjid , Rajghat( the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi ), Humayun Tomb, Qutub Minar ,Teen Murti (Official residence of Mr. Nehru, first prime minister of India )and Lotus Temple(Monday Close). Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.

Day 16: Delhi Depart

In time transfer to the airport to board the flight for onward destination.Your “NOBEL BUDDHA ” tour ends.
